How these Pzazz customers doubled the value of their homes

How these Pzazz customers doubled the value of their homes

What’s the most effective way to add value of your home? By creating more space at the same time as improving its aesthetic appeal and flow. Here are three examples of where we’ve done just that –literally doubling these homes’ values.

Case Study 1: Wellington

Wellington house extension

Adding a bedroom to a two- or three-bedroom home has been proven to add more value than any other type of renovation, closely followed by kitchen and bathroom renovations. In this case, a cramped three-bedroom home in Wellington’s suburbs was pushed out to create a larger kitchen, dining and living area, and a fourth bedroom (currently used as an office) was popped up through the roof.

Indoor outdoor flow

A partially-covered verandah and large bifold doors created new indoor-outdoor flow, giving access to an improved entertaining area and private garden.

Before renovation

It’s hard to believe that this is what the original home looked like before Pzazz Building transformed it. “As we have a busy life with work and family, trying to do this was expected to be stressful,” said the owners, Lana and Pete. “However, Pzazz made it feel easy and definitely worth it.”

How much value would this kind of transformation add to your home?

Case Study 2: New Plymouth

Modern Taranaki home renovation

This renovation in Taranaki also involved enlarging and refurbishing the kitchen, dining room and living area. As in the first case study, the home’s indoor-outdoor flow was enhanced, and we especially liked the addition of a sitting area in the far corner, designed to capture the sun.

Another smart idea was the versatility of having the lounge room open to the rest of the living area, or sealing it off with a bifolding door. The renovations and colours were the ideal complement for the owners’ art and furniture collection.

Taranaki bathroom renovation

The main bathroom was also brought up-to-date and made to look larger by bringing in more light through larger privacy windows and the use of warm yet pale colours. As we mentioned before, bathroom renovations can produce some of the best returns on your home improvement investment, not only by adding value to your home but by enriching your family’s comfort and lifestyle.

Case Study 3: Wellington

New level and deck for Wellington house
You’re not going to believe what this house looked like before it was it was extended to more than double its original size. Here’s a clue – the new roofline was deliberately designed in keeping with the original home’s tilted flat roofline.

Original Wellington house

OK, here it is. As you can see, the challenges of extending this home included the steepness and narrowness of the property.

Step 1 in Wellington home extension

The first step was to shore up the slope with retaining walls and create a platform behind the existing home capable of supporting a two-storey structure.

Step 2 Build second level

Perched on a steep slope, the home already enjoyed a great outlook, but building upwards and replacing the roof of the original structure with a massive deck improved the views at the same time as adding to the outdoor entertainment area.

Completed house extension

The giant barbecue and child’s tricycle on the balcony are testament to how much the family is enjoying their newly enlarged home. The home reflects the best of old and new, retaining its original sixties character in keeping with the neighbourhood while incorporating modern low-maintenance features and energy efficiency.
