Colour makes you happy

1. Use colour to modify your mood

But not just any colour. Shades of grey may be in at the moment, but a study from Vrije University in Amsterdam found that using either green and yellow can evoke the happiest vibes. Another study also points to the calming, mellow properties of the colour blue. It will lower the heart rate, helping you unwind and relax at night, making it the ideal shade for your bedroom. Practitioners of the ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui could have told you that 1,000 years ago.

We at Pzazz Building work with colour consultants during the renovation process to ensure you’re your home becomes a happy and healthy as well as a beautiful environment.
Happy places in your home

2. Create happy places in your home

Research carried out by Harvard University over a marathon 75 years suggest that the secret to human happiness is the formation of strong bonds with family and friends. When it comes to your home, this means creating warm, inviting spaces where people can come together, say around a dinner table or a cosy sofa, but equally having space to sit and enjoy quiet time alone, with the knowledge that family are close by.

At Pzazz Building, our designers are adept at creating happy places for the whole family.
Nurture nature

3. Nurture nature

There are loads of research studies which demonstrate that improving our connection to nature and natural processes can help to reduce stress, aid recuperation, improve air quality, energy levels and even your sleep. That connection can be made by using plants as an integral part of your décor, but even better, by developing your indoor-outdoor flow.

At Pzazz Building, we can help you improve your connection with nature by opening up your home with larger windows and French, bifold or sliding doors, and by creating conservatories, outdoor rooms and decks to enhance your lifestyle.

Light up your life

4. Let the light in

Older homes often lack light, which not only connects us to the outside world but is also essential for our body's vitamin D production and our internal clock – our ‘circadian rhythms’ which help to balance our sleep/ wake cycles.

We at Pzazz Building think opening your home up to more light is so important to your family’s health and happiness that we ran a whole article on light in our last ezine. We’d be happy to advise you on ways of bringing more light into your home at a free initial consultation.
Less clutter more happiness

5. Less is more

According to a research paper by UCLA’s Centre of Everyday Lives and Families, there is a link between high cortisol (a stress hormone) in women with a “high density of household objects”. In other words, the more cluttered your home, the more stress you are likely to experience. So, if you want to be relaxed and happy, the clutter has to go!

At Pzazz Building, we understand the trend to minimalism in interior design and can advise on the best way to improve the storage in your home and create an elegant minimalist living space to increase your family’s happiness.
