As you’ll have seen from the pages of lifestyle magazines, celebrities aren’t often known for their good taste – especially when it comes to their homes.
But there are a few unexpected exceptions – Rolling Stones guitarist and Captain Jack Sparrow-inspiration, Keith Richards, for example.
You might expect the New York pad of the craggy-faced former drug user to be a showpiece of excess and indulgence, but the Greenwich Village penthouse is surprisingly under-stated and elegant.
Granted, the man has a triptych of a motorbike on the wall of one of his sitting rooms, but the rest of the room is sparsely and tastefully decorated.
And the wall above the bed in the upstairs bedroom may say “You’re never too young”, but the attached sitting room says much about a mature appreciation of music and the visual arts.

would have.
Given that it cost a cool US$10 million, Ashton Kutcher’s and Mila Kunis’s recently-purchased beach house in Carpinteria, California, looks remarkably like many New Zealand baches.
The timber planks and panelling used everywhere give the 3,700-square-foot home the feel of an old-world cottage.

Actor Matthew Perry shared a modest New York apartment as Chandler Bing in Friends, but his horizons have expanded with the recent purchase of a US$20 million apartment overlooking Los Angeles.
The apartment is located in a luxury apartment building called “The Century,” which houses four acres of gardens, a lap pool, gym, spa, screening room, wine cellar, and more, so Matthew will have plenty of ways to keep himself busy.
We like the kitchen/dining area with not one but two kitchen islands and plenty of pantry and storage space.
We can only imagine what the night lights of LA would look like from the formal dining room.
We thought this was a particularly expansive living room until we saw the bed.
